Home for the night yet again. I’m TIRED! Busy day again today. Started with our friend Jen Gunderman coming in to play keys. She added a great part for ‘What Could I Do’ and then played B-3 on ‘Just Like Me.’ She’s a real talent and this was the first chance we’d had to work together. It was a pleasure. We then decided to revisit a song from the first sessions called ‘My Winter Coat.’ It was originally tracked as this big rock song but that just didn’t seem to capture the right sentiment. We stripped it down today and tracked it much more as a folk song. It’s really changed. Quite nice actually. Devin played mandolin, me on acoustic, Blade and Siggi in their spots and Ken tracked live percussion. I’ve got to tweak the melody now, but it should end up real cool. We then had Tony Harrell in to play keys. I had worked with Tony on Carousel and it was good to have him back around. He added a stellar piano part on the new version of ‘My Winter Coat’ and then played on ‘Highway Wings’ and ‘Goodnight/Goodbye’. So tomorrow the piecing together continues. We’ve got a few guests still remaining, but the majority of stuff is now just on the bands shoulders. Lots to do, but it’s all certainly taking shape pretty quickly. Ok, I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
