2125697199_92819ff1681.jpgDoing a ’photo op’ for the United Way tomorrow. Me, my pops and my brother. We don’t do alot of these sorts of things so hopefully it’ll be fun. It’s definitely for a great cause. Lord knows we could use the karma right? Wonderful shows this past weekend. I LOVE AKRON OHIO!!! What? You may ask. Akron? Yes dammit. Akron. The Tangiers is a wonderful venue. The station, the Summit, is EVERYTHING a radio station should be. With the exception of satellite radio, this kind of radio station I think is really the future. Listener supported. So they’ve got folks that trust the station to provide them with great new music and great shows. The staff at the station actually listens to and enjoys music. They’re even allowed to say what they like musically and why they like it. Again, this makes people TRUST the dj’s. They’re real people not some computer that is programmed. Then you’ve got a great venue in the Tangier’s. All these things come together for a GREAT night of music. I was really excited after the show. You can see it in the crowd. How respectful they are, how they listen and react. It’ a COMMUNITY! Every city should have a radio station that is doing this. Know the market. Know your listeners. KNOW the bands you play and REALLY KNOW the one’s that will come to your city and help you build this thing. Wheeeew! Alright, off my soapbox now. Pittsburgh was alot of fun too. Club Cafe is another great room. I really want to start doing an acoustic performance for the ’early show.’ Then come back and do the ’late show’ more rocking. So just know that’s what we’ve got in mind for the future if and when we make it back. That’s really it for now. Very much looking forward to getting back to Chattanooga on Wednesday, then we’ve got Atlanta in there somewhere too. Seems like forever since we’ve been there. I’ll make sure and check back in soon. Y’all be well.

ps….I’ll make sure we have a good post on religion soon!!

Wanted to say how much you completely rocked it out in Atlanta. I had heard of your band from a DJ ( Scott Register, Regscoffeehouse), who has a cool program in Birmingham. I enjoy alot of the boys, Ryan Adams, Citizen Cope, Ray Lamontagne (where is he anyway?). Have been diggining Joe Purdy, Eddie Vedder, Shawn Mullins as of late. But you, are of days gone by, when rock and roll was real. Just straight up and solid. No bullshit. My cousin, a die-hard who I drag to all the shows, was completely blown away. He called awhile ago to see if I was ready to go to Orlando….and insists your management must be crap (sorry) because everyone should be hearing Will Hoge and the band. The band, my God, is it legal to have that much talent on one stage?! Anyway,
what else can say…..oh yeah, my neck hurts!!!

Hey, glad you had fun in Pittsburgh! I’ve been a fan for a couple years now, and will still be a fan in the years to come. I have never seen you live, though, because I’m under 18. When you’re touring again in 2012 and come to Pittsburgh, I just wanted to let you know I’ll be the first person to buy a ticket.

We’ll hello,
I just wanted to say, “Wow, its been a long time since I felt such a connection to a singer”. The last one 2 Pac; however, you each come from different human compasses. Brilliant, its as if each of encompass a facet of my development. Your song, “It’s Shame”, was the catalyst for our introduction. I was watching a movie, “House of Nine”. Your song came on and I was enchanted. Im a semi-deep person ;-) Struggle with a very high intellect, A COMPASSION FOR LIFE, a body and energy that men want and women hate….so, arrogant…but hey, Im starving for people with an ability to create, change amd compliment. If your intersted in BSing….myspace: Sequin69.. Be free, love hard and true

Glad you enjoyed Akron. I’m enjoying reading your entries. I’m a nurse, and I found the one about the new resuscitation method very interesting and amusing!

I’m writing because I have been on the past three Rock Boats, and I really want you to join up for 2009. I saw a clip of Pat McGee singing “Baby Girl” from the last trip. I did not catch that one live. You just have to know that you are there in the spirit of the other artists and the music fans, and it’s time you are on a Rock Boat with me! Please consider coming back. I’ve already begged the Sixthman folks to get you back.

Take care – travel safely.
