So I crept back home to Nashville for a couple of days on our little mini-break. Getting some things taken care of around here. The last two shows were just great! LA at Spaceland was sold out. Fun night. It’s good to finally play a place in LA that didn’t feel like LA. It felt just like any other dirty rock and roll club, and yes that’s a good thing. I was wandering the streets of Silverlake bored before the show and randomly out of how ever many million people in LA, Chip, my old product manager from the Atlantic days drives by. Hopped in and killed some time chatting with him. Thanks for the coffee dude. It’s a small world after all huh? Great getting to see our manager Doug. He busts his ass for me/us every day and has for years and we really don’t get to see him enough so that’s always a pleasure. Plus it’s good for him to see a ‘real’ show, not some LA-bullshit-audition-performance. Had grand plans on our usual post show Canter’s trip for food, but with the potential bad weather we couldn’t swing it. Settled for another round of In and Out instead….not bad for second choice. Made it over the mountains in the middle of the night. Luckily it was just a bunch of fog and not all the snow that was predicted.
Rolled into San Francisco for a show at Slim’s on Saturday. I thought I’d played there before years ago, but this was definitely NOT the place I was thinking of. I remembered playing some shitty dump and this is no shitty dump! Cool club. The sound was really dialed in(nice job Sean). Great crowd too. They seemed to really warm up during the show and by the end were quite rockish. It was great having Eleanor back in the band for two days. Really looking forward to getting her back out in Boulder for the rest of the tour. After the show at Slim’s I actually had this dude say, “…..dude, that show totally made my dick hard. In a heterosexual way……” hmmmmmm. All I can say is THAT is the power of rock and roll! haha.
Spoke with Siggi earlier and he said that all is well with the crew that stayed behind in San Fran. I’ll head back and hook up with them in Portland on Wednesday. I reckon that’s about it for now. Y’all be well and we’ll see you soon.
