Hanging on a day off in NYC. Actually, Thor is in Jersey City with Blade and I. Siggi and Sean are roaming the streets of the big apple. We had a killer band dinner tonight with our pal/agent Jordan Burger. He’s keeping us busy for the rest of the year and its always great to see him.
Last night’s show in Larchmont was officially the smallest stage we’ve ever played. It was fun as hell. Just kick, snare, hi hat, bass and acoustic guitar. The response was great and we had a blast too. We’ll definitely be back sometime.
Night before was Milford, CT. Fun gig too. Played there once last winter and it blew. It’s a beach town so summer’s the way to go. Post show we stopped at the Pilot and about 10 minutes in it turned into this weird American Grafitti-meets-Fast and the Furious kinda vibe. It really looked like they’d let hooker camp out for the summer. We decided you’re certainly way to skanky when the dudes in a rock and roll band think, “man, you’re way too skanky” AND we’re at a truck stop. Hilarious. It was so bad we actually drove to a whole other state to sleep.
The night prior was our Kevin Costner gig in Atlantic City. Didn’t know what to expect, but it ended up being a real pleasure. A couple of his band guys are Nashville dudes. Park, one of the guitarists, was actually up for this gig when we hired Blade. He’s a great musician and it was good to catch up with him. I didn’t know how this actor/band thing would be, but I’ll admit it was pretty damned good. They’re good songs. The band is a slew of really good tasteful players. And they all seem to be having a great time. I was impressed. I look forward to hearing the album. Hope we’ll see them on the road somewhere down the line. I’ve got meetings with all our Ryko family tomorrow before the Brooklyn show. Getting the finishing touches put on the studio stuff that’ll start as soon as we’re home. Damn I’m fired up about making this album. We’re gonna have time to really work and experiment a bit in the studio which is a luxury I’ve never really had. Hell really none of us have! Y’all are a huge part of that so thanks. We’ll be updating lots from the studio and can’t wait for you to hear what we’re doing.
